Chris provides an overview of their software based encoding system, which is designed to accelerate single and batch encoding as much as a factor of 16x over that of regular encoding. The system divides a file into short time slices and encodes each slice independently in a 2-pass VBR process.
For example, I've encoded 20min RT content with file sizes of 90-100MB files into SD multi bitrate output files with an encode time that averages 25-30mins, it will be interesting to test their system to see the timesaving’s and quality increase. In addition, as HD content becomes more prevalent in the living room via IP enabled boxes to TV's the importance of an increase in quality will become paramount.

Have not tested their system and am about to test the Microsoft Expression Media Encoder. I would like to test the Kulabyte system in the near future.. check back in a couple of months, thanks.
