Building B Attracts Entertainment and Technology Leaders

building_b.jpg

An emerging digital media company known as “Building B” has been attracting some of entertainment and technology’s most well-known leaders. In a broad reaching industry collaboration, Building B has amassed over the last year a management team, board of directors and advisory panel comprised of executives from throughout the entertainment and technology industries. The company has also recently attracted funding from Morgenthaler Ventures, Omni Capital, Index Ventures and private investors in a $17.5 million financing round.

Building B’s management team has been carefully constructed to include key executives from each critical area of its business model, including prior senior executives from such entertainment companies as CBS, NBC, MTV Networks, Nickelodeon, Paramount, Showtime and Viacom. Individuals on the management team have also led technology and market innovations while at Sony, Numerical Technologies, Liquid Audio, Clearwire and Bell Labs.

Joining Building B’s board of directors are Andy Lack, Sony BMG Music Entertainment chairman; Dr. Arun Netravali, managing director of Omni Capital and recipient of the National Medal of Technology for his pioneering contributions to HDTV; and Bob Pavey, a partner at Morgenthaler Ventures and an early investor in several industry defining technology companies, including Apple Computer.

“By aligning with experts from the entertainment and technology industries who understand the complexities of creating a new video entertainment platform, we have a formidable team that is collaborating with partners across multiple segments within the industry,” said Building B co-founder and chief executive officer Buno Pati. “We are pleased to have industry visionaries, innovators and luminaries such as Andy Lack, Arun Netravali and Bob Pavey join the Building B effort.”

While many new forms of video delivery have developed in recent years, the independent evolution of offerings has created a cluttered and confusing combination of content, networks and devices for consumers.

“The current state of video entertainment today is similar to the early days of digital music,” said Phil Wiser, Building B co-founder, president and chairman, and former Sony CTO and founder of digital music pioneer Liquid Audio. “To help bring the industry to the next level, we will deliver a platform that gives consumers a complete, modern video experience that is elegant and instantly accessible, rather than require the consumer to learn how to put all of the pieces together and then pay an exorbitant price.”

Building B was founded to create a new entertainment platform that cost-effectively delivers the features consumers’ desire while providing new opportunities for the television industry. Building B is differentiated in its approach by starting with traditional content that is viewed and expected in the living room today. The service consists of a turn-key home video entertainment solution that seamlessly integrates traditional television content in HDTV and extends it with on-demand premium content and Internet video -- all delivered to the living room television without the need for a PC.

Building B’s platform also benefits other industry participants. Content partners can further extend their brands while seamlessly integrating their traditional, library and online content. Advertisers can take advantage of the platforms ability to deliver advertising that is more relevant and targeted to viewers’ interests. Broadcasters can leverage the platform to more effectively promote new programming, increase viewership of locally produced content and achieve more attractive advertising rates.

Building B leverages the unique strengths of wireless broadcast technology and the Internet to create an advanced video platform that works in America’s living rooms today. Telecommunications and wireless providers can benefit from Building B’s platform because it is a perfect video companion to existing high speed Internet and VOIP offerings and does not require billions of dollars of capital investment for additional infrastructure. Building B is working with broadcasters, content providers, advertisers, broadband service providers and consumer electronics companies to roll out the service.

Pilat Media Previews First Personalised TV Advertising Solution for

Amsterdam IBC Stand 8.331, September 10, 2007 - Pilat Media, the leading
specialist provider of broadcast management systems, today unveiled the
industry's first personalised advertising system. The company is
demonstrating the automatic insertion of advertising according to the
household or individual subscriber profile across all platforms -
digital TV, IPTV and mobile TV.

For the first time in the industry, Pilat Media is delivering on the
promise of advertising personalised to the household or consumer based
on who is watching, what they are viewing, the time of day, and
location, together with all the underlying business process to book, air
and bill the advertising.

Pilat Media has unparalleled experience in delivering TV advertising
worldwide with its IBMS system currently managing $20 billion of TV
advertising sales annually, including 1.8 million advertising spots for
Fox each month alone. 18 months after deploying IBMS, Network 10 in
Australia jumped from number three in advertising sales profitability to
the number one slot.

"With the growth of triple and quad play providers, there is a wealth of
untapped information about subscribers including viewing habits, web
browsing habits and mobile phone handset ownership," said Avi Engel, CEO
of Pilat Media. "Although video splicing technology has been available
for some time, this is the first time broadcasters' systems can
automatically make intelligent decisions on-the-fly about which
advertisements will be most relevant to each recipient. Without the
business intelligence, personalized advertising is nothing more than
random guesswork."

"Broadcasters and advertisers are wrestling with the challenges of
reaching today's media multi-tasking consumer," said Bob Lamb, CTO of
Pilat Media. "This new technology will be a powerful tool to help
broadcasters and telcos compete against on-line advertising by
increasing the effectiveness of advertising and maximizing every
eye-ball opportunity."

IBMS already increases advertising sales effectiveness by managing
airtime availability in real time, pricing it sensitive to the market
and enabling customers to contract with clients more quickly and
flexibly.

It analyzes rates and ratings as well as inventory usage and yield. The
system interfaces with third party software to calculate reach and
frequency to track spot availability against contractual target goals.

Pilat Media's upcoming enhancements to IBMS integrate with all major
video distribution systems. For the demo at IBC, Pilat Media has
collaborated with BitBand, the IPTV video delivery network industry
leaders.

BitBand is a leading provider of Video Delivery Networks with strong
emphasis on ensuring high quality of subscriber experience for both
on-demand and live content. BitBand has been operating in the IPTV
market since 2000 with solutions supporting a wide and global customer
base of over 40 service providers worldwide, amongst them more than 20
in Europe.

Wowza Continues Mission to Redefine Flash® Streaming

Latest Version of Wowza Media Server™ Pro Enables Large-Scale Live Flash
Streaming at One-Tenth the Cost of FMS; Boasts Advanced Service Provider
Features

SAN JOSE, CA, September 10, 2007—Wowza Media Systems, an emerging leader
in streaming media server software, today announced the launch of Wowza
Media Server Pro 1.3, the latest version of their next-generation
streaming server software that takes live Flash streaming scalability to
new heights and fundamentally redefines the economics of large-scale Flash
streaming.

With Wowza Media Server Pro 1.3, enterprises and service providers can now
deploy large-scale live streaming capability at one-tenth the cost of the
Adobe® Flash Media Server (FMS2) origin-edge edition, the only solution
that was previously available to them. The Wowza Pro advantage is the
result of advanced service-oriented features incorporated as standard
elements in all Wowza Pro editions to greatly simplify scalability,
management and content protection.

Among Wowza Media Server Pro 1.3’s new features:

• Live Stream Repeater, a standard function in all Wowza Pro editions that
allows live streams to be replicated across multiple servers, and further
enhances the already unmatched live streaming performance of Wowza Media
Server Pro.
• Centralized Configuration Management capability that lets users
configure multiple Wowza Media Server Pro instances from a single
configuration management server.
• SecureToken content protection against stream-ripping threats like
Replay Media Catcher assures content owners of the security of their
assets.
• Customizable Media Readers allow flexible server extensibility, which,
for example, enable SHOUTcast restreaming and open the path for future
streaming of H.264 encoded content to the soon-to-be-released version of
Adobe’s Flash player.

“As we’re expanding our deployment of Wowza Pro servers, having the
ability to manage configurations centrally, monitor and provide the
customer-facing view of the server performance, and secure the content, is
critical to meeting the service levels our customers expect,” said Eduardo
Martinez, Technical Service Manager, StreamGuys. “The functionality Wowza
provides and their responsiveness to our needs as a service provider is
right on target.”

In a recent Contentinople article about Wowza’s partnership with global
CDN Interoute, Mark Lewis, Director of Voice and Commercial Software at
Interoute, was equally enthusiastic: "Interoute has shifted all its Flash
streaming business to the Wowza platform -- no other vendors will be
offered. The reason is simple -- Flash has enormous market penetration but
the false economics of current Flash streaming pricing hinder its wider
adoption."

Wowza Media Server Pro has achieved great market traction with its robust
functionality and superior economics. Since its launch in February 2007,
the product has racked up over 2000 global licenses from well-known
players like Macy’s, Thomson Learning and Julius Blum GmBH, as well as
numerous service providers, including the UK’s Astream and the Dutch
provider NetMasters, along with global CDNs Interoute and StreamGuys.

“Flash streaming and live streaming in particular are clearly on the rapid
rise and we see many opportunities for enterprises and service providers
to reap the benefits of the Wowza solution,” commented David Stubenvoll,
Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder, Wowza Media Systems. “We continue
to redefine Flash streaming by providing superior functionality and
enabling the market to deliver Flash at Windows Media prices.”

Pilat Media Demonstrates VOD Asset Management System

Enabling Broadcasters and Telcos to Manage Scheduling, Rights Management
and Contractual Commitments for Thousands of Films, Programs and Adverts
Pilat Media homepage

Amsterdam, IBC Stand 8.331, September 6, 2007 - Pilat Media, the leading
specialist provider of broadcast management systems, today announced
that it is demonstrating an upcoming version of IBMS designed to handle
both non-linear (IPTV and VOD) and linear programming and advertising at
IBC.

To date, IPTV service providers have typically scheduled a small number
of assets - including films, TV programs and adverts - and have been
limited to basic tools such as spreadsheets. As they enhance their
services and the number of VOD assets that they manage grows to tens of
thousands, they are demanding more sophisticated tools to manage their
programming, rights management and contractual studio commitments.

Pilat Media has proven its ability to manage huge volumes of assets with
customers including Fox, Five and Discovery. Over 5000 users use Pilat
Media's IBMS broadcast management system on a daily basis.

Pilat Media is now bringing this experience and tools to broadcasters
and telco operators who are launching IPTV platforms. It has already
partnering with several customers to manage video-on-demand download
services.

"Many businesses are rushing to put content online. But without a solid
business infrastructure it will be hard to make money from it," said Avi
Engel, CEO of Pilat Media. "IPTV providers are finding that the more
assets they offer, the scheduling issues become exponentially complex.
For example, the contractual obligations from studios might stipulate
that certain films have to be offered with no advertising and only to
certain audiences. We can now ensure that customers take maximum
advantage of their content rights."

IBMS automates the management of all IPTV scheduling, rights management,
regulation and internal business rules, royalty payments and contractual
metrics. The scheduling team has an easy-to-use graphical interface to
drag and drop programming into the schedule and see at-a-glance how the
business is meeting contractual obligations and maximising business
opportunities. For those broadcasters who already use IBMS, they will
have a single integrated solution for managing both linear and
non-linear assets.

"For IPTV operators, the technology part of BSS and OSS is the
relatively easy part," said Bob Lamb, CTO at Pilat Media. "Without the
functionally-rich supporting system all that technology is meaningless.
We make the data relevant and help customers profit from their assets."

About Pilat Media

Pilat Media develops, markets and supports operations and business
management software for the global multi-channel broadcasting market.
The company's products and solutions support broadcasters and content
providers in streamlining and integrating content management, airtime
scheduling, media trafficking and advertising sales from rights
acquisition to transmission. The company has approximately 260 staff
across its London, Denver, Tel Aviv, Amsterdam and Sydney offices and
fifty clients worldwide, including Fox, CTV, BB
