AMSTERDAM, Netherlands--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Digital Fountain™, Inc., a leading provider of advanced, standardized software solutions and services for optimizing digital media delivery, and Neptuny, a leading provider of IPTV services and solutions, today announced the launch of a new server-based software solution to dramatically improve quality of service for IPTV providers. ToughStream Server™ is a stand-alone, enterprise class software solution that can be installed on a standard server within an operator’s IPTV head-end, protecting the entire network against packet loss, the leading cause of IPTV customer complaints.

ToughStream Server was jointly developed under a new partnership between Digital Fountain and Neptuny. Based on Digital Fountain’s ToughStream solution, ToughStream Server includes additional technology from Neptuny that enables fast, easy deployment of ToughStream on an IPTV provider’s standard server equipment. Because it is a highly flexible, highly configurable software solution, ToughStream Server can be installed, configured, and fully deployed in a very short period of time.

ToughStream Server is compatible with any standard Linux server, and is can be deployed in a fully redundant configuration with low switching times (less than 2 seconds) to enable continuous, uninterrupted, high-quality IPTV service. ToughStream Server incorporates Digital Fountain’s DF RaptorTM Forward Error Correction technology, which has been adopted by several IPTV standards, including DVB-IPTV (Digital Video Broadcasting – IPTV). Other standards bodies are currently evaluating DF Raptor as a best practices standard for high-quality IPTV service delivery.
