The Open IPTV Forum was established with the intention of creating a specification for IPTV. It intends to publish and promote its IPTV specifications as an open standard that may be used by vendors of communications systems to secure interoperability between the services and devices. The list of new members includes prestigious organisations such as Alcatel-Lucent, Deutsche Telekom and Telefonica.
“It is key to have the major players on board while critical decisions are taken,” added Helmut Schink, Steering Group Vice-Chair.
Dominique Le Foll, VP of Engineering at Amino concluded, “Amino’s membership of the Open IPTV Forum is of great importance to us. It enhances our reputation as a leading developer of IPTV technologies and enables Amino to interact with other major manufacturers within our industry. Standardisation of IPTV is a complex issue, so we applaud the Open IPTV Forum’s objectives to derive open standards for IPTV that would enable far greater interoperability amongst technology vendors. We are very proud to be the first British company to help assist the Forum in its aims and look forward to being a very proactive member. ”
