Arqiva supports global distribution of ATP Masters Series

arqiva_company_logo.gif

Arqiva has today announced that it is providing TV broadcast distribution services for the 2008 ATP Masters Series on behalf of ATP Media. Arqiva has already provided distribution services for seven of the tournament's ten international legs, most recently in Cincinnati this August.

ATP Media produces live coverage of every match from every ATP Masters Series event, providing its broadcast partners with up to five live feeds including a fully produced World feed, a News feed and dedicated court coverage of the main and second court action. These feeds are multiplexed and uplinked directly from each venue.

The multiplexed broadcast signal is delivered to ATP Media's broadcast partners using Arqiva's lease space on Eutelsat W1 for Europe and the Middle East and Intelsat-9 for the Americas. Arqiva's Winchester teleport provides the turnaround service between the two satellites and also passes the feeds via a number of dedicated fiber links to London's BT Tower. Arqiva, on behalf of ATP Media, also operates a dedicated help desk in the heart of Arqiva's Winchester MCR which provides broadcasters with immediate technical support to ensure a smooth transmission.

Steve Plasto, Chief Operating Officer of ATP Media said: "ATP Media is the largest producer of tennis in the world, generating more than 1000 hours of live coverage every year from Europe, North America and Asia. This needs to be delivered to major broadcasters all over the world so we looked to Arqiva's extensive experience in broadcast transmission, along with their global infrastructure and satellite capacity, to ensure this happened smoothly and securely. The ability to locate our help desk at the heart of the international broadcast chain was another benefit that gave our broadcast clients further confidence in our ability to deliver the transmission."

Matthew Ivey, director of Occasional Use for Arqiva's Satellite Media Solutions division, added: "The ATP Masters Series is one of the world's most popular and prestigious sporting series and it is important to ensure reliable transmission to audiences all over the globe. We are proud to be playing a key role in this process and are looking forward to further expanding our relationship with ATP Media."

CDNetworks Accelerates Simply Audiobooks - 10 Times Faster Downloads

cdnetworks_logo.gif

San Jose, CA - September 18, 2008 - CDNetworks (KOSDAQ: 073710) a top-three global, full-service content delivery network (CDN), today announced that Simply Audiobooks has selected CDNetworks to provide 10 times acceleration in the fulfillment of book downloads for its e-commerce website. CDNetworks is providing accelerated file download and content delivery security with its robust Media Authentication service.

Simply Audiobooks, called "the Netflix of Audiobooks" by the Boston Globe, offers 20,000 unique titles in 30 categories for customers to buy, rent, or download online. CDNetworks' downloading service has dramatically improved the Simply Audiobooks end-user's downloading experience compared to its previous CDN service provider. CDNetworks-accelerated downloads are ten times faster, improving download throughput by a factor of 10. With a typical book file size of 75MB, the time for an end user at home to download a book has dropped from 100 minutes to under 10 minutes. In addition, the CDNetworks Media Authentication technology assigns access privileges that prevent unauthorized users from accessing the content.

"The key to providing great content is the speed at which you can deliver that content. Our members asked and we listened. We had a mission to deliver any audio book in under 10 minutes, and CDNetworks made this possible," said Vitaly Petritchkovitch, Director of Digital Technology of Simply Audiobooks. "CDNetworks' content delivery services have dramatically improved the downloading experience for our customers, which will translate into a significant impact on our bottom line revenue. We've seen a 12% decrease in subscriber churn, relating to download technical issues and speed, in the past couple of months, which I attribute to CDNetworks. In addition, CDNetworks' technology has allowed us to streamline our delivery from the publishers to the customers, so that we can get products to customers faster, which keeps us ahead of our competitors."

MEDIA EXCEL RELEASES HERA 4000; FIRST TRANSCODER TO HANDLE TWO SIMULTANEOUS REAL-TIME HD STREAMS IN SINGLE RACK UNIT

media_excel_logo.jpg

AMSTERDAM - Media Excel, a leader in advanced real-time video encoding and transcoding solutions, today announced that it is releasing its new HERA 4000 line of transcoder products at the International Broadcasters Convention (IBC) in Amsterdam. The HERA 4000 is the first video compression product that can stream two real-time, simultaneous HD streams in a single product. As the first encoder/transcoder to use the Texas Instruments DaVinci™ technology digital media processor, the HERA 4000 introduces a new platform for content creators that need to simultaneously distribute high-resolution video over broadcast, web, and mobile networks in an efficient, cost-effective manner.

The HERA 4000 enables broadcast, cable, satellite, telco, and web video firms to rapidly encode, transcode, and distribute professional, broadcast-quality video to any device over any network. Leveraging Media Excel's patented encoding techniques, the HERA 4000 products provide higher quality video at much higher speeds and much lower costs than previous industry solutions.

Media Excel will demonstrate the HERA 4000 at its booth at IBC 2008 #2.C24, in Hall 2 of the RAI Convention Center in Amsterdam, September 12-16.

As HD content becomes more available on web and mobile devices, and as U.S. broadcasters complete the transition to an all-digital terrestrial environment on February 18, 2009, the HERA 4000 will enable broadcasters to more efficiently handle multiple standard definition (SD) as well as HD streams. Webcasters can more effectively serve tens of thousands of real-time viewers, and mobile networks can more efficiently handle video over cellular and broadband networks. Using the HERA 4000, customers can transcode 2 channels of MPEG-2 HD to H.264 HD or 8 channels of MPEG-2 SD to H.264 SD in a live IPTV broadcast scenario.

"We have achieved several benchmarks with the HERA 4000 that enable us to deliver a highly scalable, high-density product that can handle a wide range of professional video applications," said Thanasis Iatrou, CEO of Media Excel. "The market demands supreme technical efficiencies in order to make the next-generation video era happen, and our patented software, combined with the DaVinci processor, are delivering enormous value to customers that cannot wait any longer for real-time video to appear on multiple networks simultaneously."

According to the Cisco Systems Visual Networking Index, global IP traffic will nearly double every two years through 2012, so that the Internet will be 75 times larger than it was in 2002. Monthly traffic will reach 28 exabytes, or 27 billion gigabytes. The HERA 4000 will enable up to 40 times real-time file conversion, saving space and time, and offering up to 70% lower total cost of ownership than software-based

"The explosion of video consumption has enabled a market that is realizing the 'Long Tail' today; content creators can literally monetize libraries of video instantly, and transcoding brings this to the fore," said Lewis Ward, analyst with IDC. "The Media Excel platform is an ideal universal gateway for any large-scale video distributor."

Media Excel has developed a hardware solution that utilizes the DaVinci processor in a single-rack product that is ideal for broadcasters and cable operators, as well as mobile operators, telcos, web video aggregators, content delivery networks and media content production firms.

"The exploding demand for video content across ever more delivery networks has necessitated a more efficient, and scalable video encoding and transcoding solution that we can deploy across all of our production centers," said MTV Networks' Tris Baer, VP of Application Development. "The Media Excel HERA 4000 transcoder has a dynamic suite of features in a single appliance, delivering a solution that removes cost and complexities in encoding a variety of formats for delivery to a wide array of networks and devices."

The new, DaVinci -based Media Excel HERA 4000 encoder/transcoder product line provide in a single, 1U appliance:

* 2 channels of MPEG2 HD to H.264 HD or 8 channels of MPEG2 SD to H.264 SD live IPTV transcoding

PORTTRACKER INC. ANNOUNCES VERSION TWO OF NETWORK MANAGEMENT APPLIANCE

porttracker-logo.gif

porttracker Inc. today announced v2.0 of their network management appliance: porttracker, enabling Network Managers to quickly and simply track and report on what devices are currently connected and have previously been connected to their network.

porttracker v2.0 increases network security and helps drive down IT purchasing costs by reducing switch port wastage. Adding to the functionality of the original version, porttracker v2.0 now includes:

Ø Expanded Vendor Support

Ø Audit History

Ø Scheduled Reporting

Building on its success since the product launch in January 2008 and feedback from existing customers, porttracker v2.0 delivers additional functionality and has been repackaged to be available both as a hardware appliance and a downloadable version. porttracker v2.0 is also compatible with a wider number of switch devices including: HP Procurve, 3Com, Cisco and Extreme Networks.

"porttracker v2.0 brings significantly more functionality and represents a major enhancement to the original product", said Julian Rigg, CEO of porttracker. "It was important for us to be able to increase the number of vendor switches that we are able to support and through the new functionality, the long term benefits and ROI of porttracker are now available to a wider market."

In addition to helping Network Managers manage their networks more efficiently; porttracker v2.0 also assists with compliancy through Audit History Trails and Scheduled Reporting. Through the new Audit History function, users are able to track not just the last device to use a port, but all previous devices and settings that have been used whilst porttracker has been in place.

The Scheduled Reporting function allows the user to tailor the reporting functions to suit the requirements of the operation. For example, they can run reports in HTML or CSV formats, schedule intermittent reports or use the 'run now' facility. In addition, users can now have automatic alerts sent to them if specific devices show up on the network - helping them manage security and ensuring that they control access.

Rigg continued, "We know how beneficial porttracker has been for our customers - especially when it comes to managing network security. Being able to keep track of what devices are connected to your network at a moments notice, can quickly and easily mitigate the threat to network security. Combined with the ability to reduce your costs by monitoring port wastage and the need to buy new switch hardware, porttracker v2.0 delivers some immediate ROIs to businesses.

In addition to the expanded vendor support, Audit History and Scheduled Reporting functions, porttracker v2.0 has also been fitted with several other features including:

Ø 64 & 32-bit VMware distribution

Ø API (JSON) for Operation Support System (OSS) integration

Ø Support for Safari / Windows Mobile

Ø More 'drill down' between fields

Ø Column totals for switch summary views

Ø User comment fields

Ø Relative date filters

porttracker is designed for companies with 1,000+ switch ports and using a distributed architecture, scales up to meet the needs of the largest global business. Through the 32-bit VMware distribution, organisations with fewer than 1,000 ports can also benefit from the use of porttracker. porttracker's views automatically collate and display information to provide a comprehensive insight into network connectivity. This enables IT and Network managers to make informed decisions on port wastage, trouble shooting and network security, ultimately reducing operational overheads.

Stampede_Co_logo.jpg

New York, New York, September 15, 2008 - Stampede® Technologies, Inc., a leading provider of WAN Optimization and Application Acceleration solutions, today announced that it is previewing the newest in its arsenal of application acceleration solutions at InteropÒ New York. The company is announcing the new Stampede Remote Campus OptimizerÔ this week at Interop, in New York's Javits Center, September 15-19, Booth 1145. Designed to optimize efficiency for application traffic flow between an application data centers and remote locations, the new Stampede Remote Campus Optimizer, which is software that runs on Linux appliances, will be available to OEM partners in Q4 2008.

Stampede's new Remote Campus Optimizer (RCO) makes WAN access more like LAN access by facilitating easier, more responsive and more efficient remote user application access. The "Stampede Remote Campus Optimizer (the RCO)" accelerates most traffic between a remote branch and a data center by sitting "in-line" as a transparent bridge. The RCO runs on a dedicated appliance with special network hardware that enables it to go into pass-through if taken out of service. The RCO accelerates multiple protocols, including HTTP, Microsoft Exchange (MAPI), CIFS, FTP, POP3, SMTP, and many others. Working in conjunction with the Stampede Acceleration SeriesÔ (SAAS), the new RCO enhances acceleration by combining protocol-specific optimization techniques along with compression technology, and Stampede's patented TurbostreamingÔ. The RCO makes remote application use 4-10x faster and more efficient, reducing bandwidth usage by 70-90%. By partnering with OEMs who will bring their own hardware to the total solution, the RCO will put an affordable Wan Optimization Solution on the market for small and medium size accounts who previously could not afford Enterprise level WOC products.

"There is no question that central hosting and management of applications and data is more practical for the SMB market in terms of hardware, software and facilities investment and maintenance," said Gordon Dorworth, Stampede Technologies' President and CEO. "The issues to be overcome are efficiency for the user end and the cost of bandwidth. Stampede has earned our reputation in delivering application acceleration solutions for over 14 years, and the new RCO marks a huge breakthrough in remote application efficiency--at an attractive price point - so that any size account can afford the benefits of WAN Optimizatio

In addition, TVWeek cites Revision3's strong advertisers, including Bank of America, GoDaddy, Virgin America, eMusic, Netflix, U.S. Air Force, Dr. Pepper, Hewlett-Packard, Microsoft Zune, Anheuser-Busch, CNN, Southern Comfort, Dolby and Verizon, and Hollywood connections as other key reasons for being named to the list.
