Move Networks Improves Delivery of High Definition Internet Television to Intel-based Mobile Internet Devices and Netbooks

movenetworkslogo.jpg

Las Vegas, January 8, 2008 -- Move Networks, the leader in Internet television services, today announced that it is optimizing its media player with a simplified user interface for Intel® Atom™ processor based Mobile Internet Devices (MIDs) and Netbooks, allowing consumers to quickly access high quality Internet television whether at home or on the go. Intel and Move Networks will be demonstrating the new viewer-friendly Internet television interface for these mobile devices at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) this week.

As media consumption becomes increasingly mobile, Move Networks has worked to optimize the quality and multi-screen accessibility of Internet television. Building on Move Networks' August 2008 announcement of support for Intel Atom processor- based MIDs, Move is now showcasing its MID and Netbook-optimized user interface making it even easier for people to find and play the Internet television programming that they want while on-the-go.

Meeting Consumer Demand for Anywhere, Anytime Internet Television

Internet television programmers and distributors can take advantage of the Intel-based MID and Netbook platforms to deliver higher quality and more engaging, Internet television experiences to viewers across multiple screens.

Whether they are standing on the street holding a pocket-sized MID, relaxing on their couch watching a 56-inch plasma digital TV, or sitting at their desk looking at their laptop, viewers will be able to more easily access and watch Internet television programming with quality that is similar to, if not better than, traditional television.

"Technologies from companies such as Intel are transforming television, turning it into a medium where viewer choice is never compromised by quality," said John Edwards, CEO, Move Networks. "Intel's advanced MID and CE platforms are moving us one step closer towards a world where television programmers and distributors can deliver high-quality Internet television programming to a screen on any Internet-connected device."

"Internet television access on mobile devices will increasingly become mainstream. As Internet TV shifts from PCs to always connected mobile devices like MIDs and Netbooks, consumers will be able to access high quality content wherever they go," said Pankaj Kedia, director of global ecosystem programs in the Ultra Mobility Group at Intel Corporation. "By bringing together Intel's high performance Atom processor and the Moblin-based OS with Move Networks' advanced Internet television delivery technology and services, we are providing consumers with more choices and access to Internet video content."

Sling Media Introduces SlingGuide: Redefining Search and Discovery for Satellite, Cable and Terrestrial Broadcast Programming

nav-top-logo.gif

Las Vegas -- International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) -- January 8, 2009 -- Sling Media, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of EchoStar Corporation (NASDAQ: SATS), today introduced SlingGuide, a new web-based way to easily find, watch and record your favorite television programming from anywhere. SlingGuide allows consumers to browse, search and record programs on their DVR from any PC, Macintosh or compatible mobile phone. In addition, if the DVR is SlingLoaded™ or has a Slingbox™ connected to it, consumers can also watch live or recorded programs off their DVR through a web-based version of the SlingPlayer software that is integrated into SlingGuide. SlingGuide will be available first to DISH Network subscribers when it launches in spring of 2009. For more information, go to www.slingmedia.com/go/slingguide.

For DISH Network customers with select DVRs, SlingGuide will provide a personal, integrated and centralized view of everything you want to watch or record on DISH Network including programming from hundreds of channels, thousands of programming choices, and even internet video from Sling.com.

The following is a list of DISH Network DVRS that are expected to be compatible with SlingGuide at launch.*

HD DuoDVRTM SlingLoadedTM ViP® 922 (Just Announced)
DuoDVR™ ViP® 722k
DuoDVR™ ViP® 722
DuoDVR™ ViP® 622

*Receivers require a broadband network connection to use SlingGuide.

Current program guides on your TV can limit a consumer's view of what is really available to watch at present and in the future. For that reason, consumers watch only a handful of channels or programs at most. SlingGuide's powerful search technology makes it easy to watch and discover new programming you may never have known existed using the power of your PC, Mac or mobile phone. With SlingGuide, you can search for shows by title, genre, network, keyword or actor.

Using the web browser on an iPhone or iPod Touch, DISH Network customers can put the power of SlingGuide in the palm of their hand. Sitting in front of the TV, SlingGuide turns your iPhone or iPod Touch into an intelligent remote control capable of quickly browsing and searching the program guide, scheduling and managing DVR recordings, and more. SlingGuide on the iPhone or iPod Touch works with the DISH Network DVR to do this all in the background without disturbing the television picture displayed on the TV.

While a Slingbox is not required to enjoy SlingGuide, those customers who have a Slingbox connected to one of the supported DISH Network DVRs or are lucky enough to be one of the first to enjoy the DISH Network HD DuoDVRTM SlingLoadedTM ViP® 922, SlingGuide also gives you the ability to watch live TV or DVR recordings on your PC, Mac or compatible mobile phone, around the home or around the world.

Pricing and Availability

SlingGuide will be free to DISH Network subscribers who have a network-connected, compatible DVR. Sling Media will make SlingGuide available to DISH Network customers in spring of 2009. A limited beta of SlingGuide is already under way. For an opportunity to participate in the beta program, go to www.slingmedia.com/go/slingguide.

Tudou.com Chooses On2 VP6 for Web Video in China

CLIFTON PARK, NY, USA (January 6, 2009) - On2 Technologies (AMEX: ONT) has added Tudou.com to the growing list of Chinese video web sites using its On2 VP6® format for Adobe® Flash® video.

Serving in excess of seven million unique viewers per day with a catalogue of over thirteen million videos that grows by more than 30,000 clips every day, Tudou.com is one of China's most popular video web sites.

As one of China's largest consumers of bandwidth, by switching to On2 VP6 Tudou will realize significant bandwidth savings while also improving the video quality on their site.

Tudou.com will migrate from the Sorenson Spark format to On2 VP6 as their default codec for creating Adobe Flash video content. In addition, Tudou.com will standardize on the On2 Flix Engine software to encode all incoming videos to the site.

China's largest video sites are adopting On2 VP6 because it delivers clear advantages over the other formats used in Flash. For example, when compared to Sorenson Spark and H.264 Baseline profile, On2 VP6 delivers significant data bandwidth savings, while also requiring less computing power to play back than H.264 Main and High profiles. On2 VP6 also avoids potentially costly MPEG-LA licensing obligations.

"Tudou is the largest video web site in the world and we are pleased to have them join the On2 Asia family," said John Fargis, On2 VP of Sales, Asia Pacific. "This agreement is affirmation of the continuing trend in China towards adoption of On2 VP6 video."

"Switching from Sorenson Spark to On2 VP6 we estimate a reduction in our bandwidth overhead of up to 40%, without lowering the quality of our published videos. The encoding speed of On2 Flix Engine also enables a greater throughput for video transcoding." Said Michael Zhao, Chief Technology Officer, Tudou. "This means we are able to increase the quality of service we offer our customers without increasing our operational costs."
