Every Day Till iPad Ships, A New Blog About Mobile Platforms

every_day_site.jpg

January 29th, New York, NY Started the day after Apple announced their iPad, a new site:
Every Day Till iPad Ships was launched. The idea of ipTVe managing editor, Gilbert B. Hammer, the site will be a daily does of topics around specific mobile platforms the iPad has in its gun sights.

"It seemed to me after a discussion with some colleagues about the iPad there was a lot not being discussed in the media about how people interact with mobile devices such as Netbooks, E-Readers and Slates and that simply talking about the technology advanced, for example of how well you can see a device off-axis is more about marketing"

The site has a limited run - slated to publish until the iPad ships, it will then let the market take over and generate metrics on the acceptance and how people will ultimately will use such a platform and if it can become a category killer.

VMIX-companylogo.jpg

San Diego, CA - January 5, 2009, (BUSINESS WIRE) - VMIX (www.vmix.com) a leading provider of online video and media-management solutions today announced it has added four new senior members to its Business Development team. The hiring is the result of the San Diego-based company's growth over the past year and its plans for continued expansion in 2010.

Dan Charleston, Senior Vice President of Business Development at VMIX, said the four new senior Business Development Managers will play an instrumental role in the company's revenue growth plans for the coming year.

"The new members of our BD team are seasoned veterans, each with significant experience in online video, as well as in a variety of client verticals. They will help us expand in key areas, and they bring significant customer relationships that will help both in the US and abroad."

Dan added, "With VMIX's more than 500 client sites across the media, entertainment, non-profit, education and enterprise markets, I am thrilled to welcome Kate, Charlie, Scott and Alan on board to help us continue the momentum."

Kate Dixon, based in New York, NY brings 20 years' business-development, sales and management expertise, with direct experience selling video-platform and media-management solutions at Nine Systems and Origin Digital. Kate comes most recently from Origin Digital, where she was Senior Director of Business Development.

Charles White, based in Boston, MA brings nearly 20 years' business-development experience, including almost four years as VP of Business Development and Alliances with PermissionTV (now VisibleGains).

Scott O'Donnell, also based in Boston, MA brings 12 years' experience in sales and business development, and a sharp focus on selling enterprise web-content delivery, streaming media, video-on-demand and SaaS services. He comes to VMIX from Mirror Image Internet, a leading CDN, where he was Senior Director of Sales.

Alan De Leon, based at VMIX's headquarters in San Diego, brings more than a decade of national digital media and brand partnership experience, developing entertainment brands while at NBC Universal and Warner Bros. Entertainment. Alan most recently held the position of Senior Vice President of Interactive at media-platform and content-syndication provider Gen2Media.

Plans for further expansion at VMIX were announced in October, 2009, when the company received $2 million in additional funding to accelerate growth and expand into new markets.

President and CEO of VMIX Mike Glickenhaus said VMIX is fast becoming one of a handful of online-video solution providers separating themselves from other providers in the market. The company was one of just six platforms included in a recent Forrester study on online-video platform providers in the US.

"Among other commendations in the report, we were recognized as one of the strongest performers in our industry," said Glickenhaus. "Adding seasoned experts to our Sales team further solidifies VMIX's standing and readies the company as a whole to take a large step towards meeting the emerging needs of our clients."

VMIX is headquartered in San Diego, with offices in New York, Boston and Atlanta. The company plans to add a San Francisco/Bay Area office early in the new year.

BMW launches world-first: personalized mobile video advertising campaign in China

BMW has selected China for a world-first in advertising - personalized video messages delivered directly to cell phones. The targeted messages, distributed Dec 21-24 in Shanghai, Beijing and Guangzhou, address individual customers with a holiday greeting that is uniquely tailored to a specific individual.

For BMW, being first in advertising innovation is second nature. The company that brought the world BMW Films and the eight part branded entertainment series "The Hire", is now partnering with mobile technology provider Clip in Touch to engage their audience in a new way. The technology for this type of precise targeting and personalization technology is provided by Clip in Touch. Initial response to the campaign has been very positive, generating more test drives in a three day period than at any time this year.

BMW is growing quickly in China. Sales are up this year more than 40% to 90,000 units. For the launch of its new X1 series, the German luxury automaker recognized it needed to reach a younger demographic in the most relevant medium- mobile. Unlike Europe or North America, in China the mobile device is the primary internet access tool. There are roughly 165 million high-speed, 3G mobile broadband subscribers in China and these are extremely active mobile internet users. In fact, 58% of Chinese mobile web users post Web 2.0 content via their handsets, compared with 41% of those in the US (Phone Valley Media Scene, 2009). According to Yi Han, BMW China Ltd.'s Head of eCRM "BMW empowers people to express their individuality and personality. We wanted our X1 marketing message to do the same. Clip in Touch has enabled a targeted campaign with sight, sound and motion that our audience can personalize and make their very own".
Technology for the campaign was provided by Clip in Touch. The company provides a platform for sending advertising campaigns via MMS. The uniqueness comes in allowing users to personalize, edit and add their own voice, video and text to any advertising campaign. CEO Rami Reshef emphasizes the importance of engagement in advertising, rather than impressions. "I tip my hat to BMW for taking this risk. Chinese mobile owners have told us loud and clear--advertising that is personalized and engaging is not only welcome but something they will pass along to their friends".
Adds Johannes Vizethum, General Manager of Clip in Touch China, "Innovative brands recognize what we all know from the internet- consumers like video and they want a message that has been tailored for them. The success of this campaign makes a strong case for brands to create one-to-one campaigns using mobile video.
