That Google has formed the Open Handset Alliance is further evidence that the phone will transform into a transportable personal computing and entertainment platform, that also happens to make phone calls.


"The problem is not to just develop a device but to get it out into the hands of consumers." Indeed, the success of the Open Handset Alliance' ultimately hinges on whether consumers will bang on stores' doors asking for Android-based devices, says Envisioneering Group's Doherty.

If the Apple iPhone has not answered this question that consumers want flexability for media, information and telephony then I am missing something here.
